Ruperto Cabrera
Ruperto Cabrera was born in Tenerife, Spain. The artist studied Fine
Arts both in Tenerife and Barcelona, receiving his Bachelor of Fine Arts
from the latter university. After having graduated, he traveled to Paris,
where he proceeded to study art history.
His work consists of retaking classical images and reworking them through
contemporary and classical techniques such as digital transfers, engravings,
oil painting, computer reformulated images and photography.
Since the 1990's, the artist has lived and worked between Madrid, Miami
and New York. He is a member of the Senate of the Academy of Modern Art
in Rome, Italy. His artistic scope has led him to take on projects such
as the artistic direction for Twentieth Century Fox's "The Object
of my Affection."
His work has had extensive media coverage, and he is part of important
public collections such as the Bank of Tokyo, Banco de Santander, and
Banco de Portugal, among others. His works continue to be exhibited throughout
Europe and the United States, and traded in international auction houses
such as Sotheby's.
